.…….despite Corona Virus Pandemic
Pastor Mark Berney, a Florida Pastor is grateful to God having survived a life-threatening heart transplant even in the midst of the raging Corona Virus pandemic
In March 2020, Pastor Mark Berney of River of Life assembly of God, Merritt island, Florida had a sudden affliction. He tumbled back in his chair and began to experience seizures at the time he was preaching.
Few minutes later, Pastor Berney woke up amidst church members who had rushed to revive him and had called 911. Consequently, he was immediately conveyed by an ambulance to Florida hospital now known as Advent Health Orlando.
It was there the doctors informed Berney that he will require a heart transplant. This was by virtue of his previous heart complications. Bernie aged 61 spoke through Faithwire and said: “My mortality was real – it’s that way for everybody.”
The minister acknowledged he had no guarantee over the future of his physical body. He however realizes the power of faith.
In addition, Berney affirmed “So I grabbed a hold of my faith and I drove down where God was concerned and recognised that He’s my price ultimately when I signed up for him; He’s my ultimate destiny.”
“That’ began giving me peace of mind, knowing I was going to be OK; no matter what, I couldn’t lose, I’d always win.” he concluded.
Power of Faith
Despite the scourge of coronavirus pandemic, Pastor Berney’s heart transplant was successfully accomplished on April 22. First time in the course of 10 years he had the feeling of warmth in his legs. To the donor and surviving member of his family, Pastor Benny said: “Words cannot express how I feel, how humbled I am for it and how grateful I am.”
Without a doubt, it was clear that the minister was “completely blown away at the mercy of God”. He said: “the blood that’s going to my brain, I feel like I’ve woken up from a deep sleep.”
While encouraging believers with his experience, he said: “I just want to tell you I don’t care what you are going through in life if you drill down in your faith, He will give you what it takes to get to the other side.”
Pastor Berney also applauded the hospital and the personnel for expressing commitment to his care with their tireless dedication. This was particularly when his wife was unable to visit him due to COVID-19 restriction. Furthermore, the thoracic medical director at Advent Health transplant Institute Dr Nirav Raval explained about the pastor’s supernatural recovery.
Dr Raval said: “He would have frankly died then and there, if he didn’t have a defibrillator.” He also made reference to the fact that “medical Science and divine intervention’ were part of what contributed to Berney’s survival.
Pastor Benny was engulfed with emotion when he said: “I’m impressed and I’m still overwhelmed emotionally I am extremely humbled at the gulf of life.“
