The Chosen Passes 400 Million Views worldwide

The Bible-based hit series The Chosen passed 400 million worldwide views during the past month, according to new data from its studio. The chosen which is directed by Dallas Jenkins and distributed by Angel Studios is a multi-season television series about the life of Jesus and the disciples. “You did it! Thank you for getting us that much closer to a billion today,” a message on The Chosen Facebook page read.

Similar to data on YouTube, The Chosen,  a television drama based on the life of Jesus of Nazareth, also has 400 million numbers which represent views, not individual viewers. Jenkin’s intention of the drama was not only to dig deeper into the people who encountered Jesus and to see Jesus through the eyes of those who met him, but also to show him in a way that is more personal, intimate, and immediate.

Jenkins in his reaction to hitting 400 million views worldwide, said that the reaction by fans of the show has encouraged him and those people come up to him and say, how the show has completely reignited their faith in Christ and also how the show has brought them closer to Christ; while others talk about how the show has made them focus less on religion and more on Jesus and that some kids who never want to watch anything faith-related now want to watch it and are loving it.

The first season of The Chosen was set in 1st century Galilee, where Jesus starts to build a group for his ministry, inviting several people with different backgrounds while the second season begins in Samaria and moves into nearby regions, where Jesus continues to build his group of disciples, and as word of his public ministry begins to grow and how he encounters both opportunities and difficulties.
