Poiema Foundation Intensifies Efforts to Combat Human Trafficking

The Poiema Foundation, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting human trafficking, has ramped up its efforts to address this pressing issue. With a multifaceted approach that includes public education, community engagement, and survivor empowerment, the foundation is making significant strides in the battle against modern-day slavery.

Founded by Rebecca Jowers, the Poiema Foundation aims to raise awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and provide support for survivors. The organization has educated over 30,000 people through its prevention education program, targeting teachers, students, healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and community groups.

One of the foundation’s key initiatives is community outreach, where volunteers distribute posters of missing minors and engage with local businesses and first responders to identify potential victims. This grassroots effort has led to the recovery of 450 children, many of whom were victims of sex trafficking or exploitation.

The Poiema Foundation also operates a safe house, offering trauma-informed care and support for survivors. Volunteers play a crucial role in this program, providing mentorship, teaching life skills, and assisting with home maintenance projects.

As the foundation continues to expand its reach, it remains committed to its mission of eradicating human trafficking and restoring the lives of those affected.
